Welcome

The Haematology Association of Ireland nurtures the development of haematology knowledge and research on the Island of Ireland. HAI achieves this through the organisation of an annual meeting in October, hosted in all corners of the island. This year's meeting will be taking place in the Galway Bay Hotel on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 October.  Deadline for abstracts will be Friday 3rd September and all abstracts must be submitted electronically via the website - Abstract Guidelines 2010. Our 2010 meeting page is currently under development and we have uploaded the 2010 information under the 2009 meeting page in the interim.  Just follow the "annual meeting" link above.

The Association welcomes members who are qualified, working or studying in any area of haematology. We are proud of our medical, nursing and scientific members. Our multidisciplinary committee ensures that all areas of haematology research, knowledge and practice (both diagnostic and therapeutic) are represented at our annual meeting and at subspecialty meetings during the year.

HAI is closely affiliated with the European Haematology Association (EHA) from whom we derive our annual meeting accreditation and the authority to provide EHA accreditation to smaller Irish meetings during the year.

We are also associated with the Royal College of Pathologists in the UK (RCPath). The RCPath is working on procedures designed to open its exams to scientists. The HAI is happy to support scientists in their preparations with opportunities to network, develop research projects and seek funding in the form of start up grants and travel grants. Check out our Scholarships section to see who the successful candidates for 2010 were. 2010 Scholarship Award Winners

The HAI Nurses group leads the ongoing education of haematology nurses of all types and we welcome nurse members from coagulation in addition to cancer related haematology nurses.

The HAI is increasingly a nidus of opportunity for doctors in haematology, (training and trained) to further collaboration on research projects and clinical trials.

Our annual meeting attracts speakers of the highest international standing from all areas of haematology as a glance through previous programmes will demonstrate. Consistently positive feedback from attendees allows me to encourage you to attend out annual meeting to experience this for yourself.

Finally, if you are thinking of joining, click here and do it now. Your membership covers attendance at the annual meeting and allows access to the annual dinner and gala banquet for a nominal sum.
